Sittingbourne FC Presentation Evening for Season 2017-2018, 21st April 2018
Kane Rowland scored a hat-trick when Sittingbourne held their awards presentation evening after the final home game of last season.
The 23-goal striker, currently out of action with a broken hand, won manager’s player-of-the-season, the supporters’ player-of-the-season and the golden boot for being the club’s top scorer.
Rowland edged out Chris Webber and Tom Loynes for the supporters’ award, but captain Webber had the consolation of winning the players’
player-of-the-year.
Young player-of-the-year went to Lex Allan, John Goatham was honoured as supporter-of-the-year, and chairman’s awards went to Roger Pudner and Tony Rickson. And Sonia Crayford was presented with a bouquet for her help in the boardroom and on behalf of boardroom host who couldn't attend. .
Chairman Maurice Dunk told a clubhouse packed with fans as well as the playing squad: “Thanks for all your support. The best thing about this club is we never give up, and I think we can say that each year we’ve moved a little bit further forward.”
Newly-installed manager Aslan Odev said huge credit should go to his support team, led by Ian Varley and including Warren and Harry Chambers.
He also praised his players, saying: “There’s a great energy, vibe and atmosphere in the changing room, and we’re growing and growing as a team.
“The players have been giving everything they’ve got but we know we’re by no means the finished article and we want on to kick on from here next season.”
He added: “We have the best supporters in the league and I can’t thank you enough for that. We want to give you something to shout about; the fans are everything about this club.”
